Your data never leaves your device. We can't see it. We don't want to. That's by design.

Our Philosophy

Stey was built on a simple belief: your most personal thoughts, memories, and voice recordings should belong to you and only you.

We chose to process everything on-device — not because it's easier (it's not), but because it's right.

What We Don't Collect

✕ Your voice recordings
✕ Your transcribed memories
✕ Names of people you mention
✕ Any content you create in the app
✕ Location data
✕ Contact information from your phone

What We May Collect

To improve the app and fix crashes, we may collect:

○ Crash reports — Anonymous technical data when the app crashes (via Sentry)
○ App version — Which version you're using
○ Device type — iPhone model and iOS version

None of this data includes your personal content. Ever.

On-Device Processing

Stey uses on-device AI for:

→ Speech-to-text — Your voice is transcribed locally using Whisper
→ Memory analysis — Understanding context and emotion using local LLM
→ Organization — Categorizing your memories locally

No audio or text is ever sent to external servers for processing.

Data Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device in an encrypted database. We do not have access to this data.

If you enable iCloud backup for your device, your Stey data may be included in that backup. This is controlled by your iOS settings, not by Stey.

GDPR & Your Rights

Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to:

→ Access — All your data is already on your device, fully accessible to you
→ Export — Export all your data anytime from within the app
→ Delete — Delete all data from the app settings
→ Portability — Your exported data is in standard formats you can use elsewhere

Since we don't store your personal data on our servers, there's nothing for us to delete or provide — it's already entirely in your hands.

Children's Privacy

Stey is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the changes here and update the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we may also notify you through the app.
